Even as someone not remotely interested in football, there are just some players that become household names – Ronaldo, Messi, Pelé, and Maradona, to name a few. So far I have learned multiple things in my pursuit of understanding this fascination – Maradona wore a number 10 shirt, as did Pelé, and someone is selling both of their shirts, both of which are signed and mounted in a FIFA World Cup Dual Frame, for £9,999.99 – yes really.
Maybe to some people this is worth ten thousand pounds, because the second thing I learned was that Maradona scored just under 300 goals in just under 600 games throughout his career – not bad. Finally, I learned that FIFA were urged by manager
Few people make this kind of impact throughout their career, so it’s no wonder Maradona has become the face of Blueprint Gaming‘s upcoming release, D10S Maradona, which translates to ‘God Maradona’, with his famous number 10 intertwined.
With wins on offer up to 50,000x bet (or £250,000 – whichever comes first), this release comes with a fixed RTP of 95.0%, and a maths model rated medium for volatility.
It’s all happening visually in D10S Maradona, with bright blue reels and various images of Maradona in the background. Basically, Blueprint use this release to follow the legend throughout his career, with different Maradona characters appearing on the reels to represent each of the clubs he has played for, including Barcelona, Boca Juniors, Napoli, and Argentina.
In the background, we can see Maradona to each side of the reels – like I said, I’m not a big football fan, but I’m assuming in one he is shooting a goal, and the other he is celebrating a different goal. Audios are very Latin-American and Argentinian, tying everything together well.
D10S Maradona Base Features
Taking place across 5 reels, wins are formed on D10S Maradona by matching at least 3 symbols on adjacent reels, beginning with the leftmost reel, across 1 of 20 fixed win lines. Symbols available begin with Js, Qs, Ks, and As, awarding wins of 0.25x bet for 3 of a kind, increasing to 5x bet for 5 of a kind.
At the premium end, we have four football jerseys – Boca Juniors, Barcelona, Napoli, and Argentina. Land 3 of a kind of any football shirt to see wins between 0.25 and 0.50x bet, increasing to values between 7.50 and 40x bet for 5 of a kind. Finally, we have Wild symbols decorated with the flag of Argentina. Wilds substitute for all symbols except Maradona Scatters.
D10S Bet
The first thing to cover in D10S Maradona is the D10S Bet.
By betting an additional 25%, players can double the chance of landing the Bonus.
Cash Collect
Next up is the Cash Collect feature, which is the main talking point of this release. On every spin, Cash Symbols are active on reels 1-4 – these are golden footballs with cash values displayed across the front.
If any Cash Symbols land in view on reels 1-4, the final reel will slow spin. If a D10S Scatter symbols lands on reel 5, the Cash Collect feature is triggered.
The D10S Scatter is not the same as the regular Bonus Scatter – it will expand to cover all of reel 5, before revealing one of 4 Maradona images, all of which serve a different purpose.
The following images and features are possible in the Cash Collect feature:
- Barcelona Maradona (Collect) – collects all Cash Symbol values in view.
- Napoli Maradona (Boost Collect) – collects all Cash Symbol values in view, and awards a cash boost.
- Argentina Maradona (X-Collect) – collects all Cash Symbol values in view, and awards a cash collect multiplier up to x5.
- Boca Juniors Maradona (Respin Collect) – locks the D10S Scatter and Cash Symbols, and awards a respin. Respins continue until no new Cash Symbols land, at which point all values in view are collected.
D10S Maradona Bonus
Land 3 Bonus Scatters on reels 2, 3, and 4 to trigger 10 Free Spins. It is only possible to land Scatters on these middle reels (2-4). During Free Spins, there is a cashpot added above each reel. On every spin, any Cash Symbols that land will have their values added to the pot above their respective reel.
Alongside this, the Cash Collect feature continues as it does in the base game, with Cash Symbols landing on reels 1-4, and their values being collected if one of the following D10S Scatters lands on reel 5:
- Barcelona Maradona (Collect) – collects all Cash Symbol values in view.
- Napoli Maradona (Boost Collect) – collects all Cash Symbol values in view, and awards a cash boost.
- Argentina Maradona (X-Collect) – collects all Cash Symbol values in view, and awards a cash collect multiplier up to x5.
- Boca Juniors Maradona (Respin Collect) – locks Scatter and Cash Symbols, and awards a respin. Respins continue until no new Cash Symbols land, at which point all values are collected.
D10S Spin
After the first 9 spins, the final spin will be a special D10S Spin.
During this spin, all Cash Symbol values present on the reels will display the total value of the cashpot for their respective reel. It is not possible to land any other values.
Reel 5 will change to a special Maradona symbol, and reels 1-4 will spin. Any Cash Symbol values that land in view will be collected by this special Maradona symbol, and added to the overall win.
It is possible during this spin to land multiple Cash Symbols on each reel, but they will all display the same value – the value of the cashpot above them.
There is no Bonus Buy option available in D10S Maradona, however remember players can bet an additional 25%, which doubles the chance of landing Free Spins.
The maximum win available in D10S Maradona is 50,000x bet, or £250,000 (or currency equivalent). If the sum of a single game round exceeds either of these values, the game round will end, and either 50,000x bet or £250,000 will be awarded – whichever is lower.
First Impression
Look, as someone who’s just not that into football, D10S Maradona is a fine game. The Cash Collect Feature does add enough excitement to keep things moving forward, especially with Boost Collect, X-Collect, and Respin Collect all possible. In Free Spins, things are taken up a notch with the addition of cashpots and a final D10S Spin. It all works, and although it isn’t the most exciting thing on the market, it would suit a player looking for a softer, more casual way of spinning.
That said, if you’re into football, the theme might be enough to convince you this one is a little better than it really is. Like I said – Maradona is a household name. Everyone knows him, and from what I read online, it seems like everyone loved him too, so there’s definitely going to be a nostalgic, emotional connection here for fans of his. If you fit into this category, this one is a great option, especially with so much effort having been made to really bring his legacy into every element of the game.
Maths is rated medium volatility, RTP is fixed at 95.0%, and wins are on offer up to 50,000x bet or £250,000 (whichever comes first) – although I often think Blueprint put those caps into these releases just in case something goes disastrously wrong and the game runs away with itself, rather than being the kind of win we should expect to see frequently.
Look, if you like football, Argentina, Maradona, or anything related, this one will suit you. If you’re not really buying it, you’d need to be really into Cash Collect features to enjoy yourself.
